2018 Audi Q8:
The Q8 concept has a 630-litre boot. Showcased as a plug-in hybrid e-tron model, the Q8 concept is powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI engine paired with an electric motor, which runs from a 17.9kWh lithium-ion battery. The powertrain develops a combined 438bhp and 700Nm of torque. Audi claims 0-62mph takes 5.4 seconds and the car has a top speed of 155mph, while it emits 53g/km of CO2. Power is delivered via an eight-speed automatic gearbox and quattro four-wheel drive.

2018 BMW 5 Series Touring:
With surface contouring that creates a clearly defined athletic build and dynamically stretched lines, the exterior design of the new BMW 5-Series Touring clearly expresses the blend of driving pleasure and versatility for which this model is renowned. The vehicle's tail section has an individual design language that symbolises the increased amount of space on offer in this model variant and its functional, flexible usability. The new BMW 5-Series Touring is 36 millimetres longer than the outgoing model (at 4,943 millimetres), eight millimetres wider (1,868 millimetres) and ten millimetres taller (1,498 millimetres)....

2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA:
Enthuasists may cringe at the term crossover, but the Mercedes-Benz GLA-class is not the bloated people carrier usually associated with that word. Despite being marketed as an SUV, it’s really more of a sport-oriented hatchback with a slightly increased ride height. And although it has been refreshed for the 2018 model year, its core values remain intact—why change what works? Mercedes-Benz found American driveways for more than 24,000 GLAs in 2016. Updates to the 2018 GLA-class amount to little more than a light freshening. Newly optional LED headlamps flank a restyled grille with crossbars that feature rectangular punctures like those on the larger GLS-class SUV...

2018 Subaru Ascent:
In terms of sales momentum, Subaru continues to ascend, a huge cartoon snowball somehow barreling uphill, picking up skiers, snowmobiles, and the odd yeti. It started with a U.S. sales record in 2009, when 216,652 Americans bought Subarus. Seven consecutive record years later, the brand came close to tripling that total, with 615,132 sales in 2016. Its industry-leading customer-retention rate means that more people come back to buy another Subaru than do the buyers of any other brand in the U.S. But there’s a limit to this momentum: Subaru customers regularly outgrow the brand’s lineup as they look for larger vehicles...

2018 Mazda CX-5:
What It Is: A compression-ignition middle finger to the masses of virtually identical life-ends-with-children mobiles. Should also come with the bonus of meaningful steering feel and impressive road manners. Why It Matters: If the CX-5 diesel works as it should, it could offer segment-leading fuel economy and performance. According to a Mazda representative, the company’s most recent attempt at bringing a diesel stateside in the Mazda 6 ended with a tough decision....
