While surfing the web earlier, and I came across three rather interesting video's of a what Alfa Romeo labeled as their "Alfa Romeo Giulietta Summer tests in South Africa". From what we understand and can be seen, Alfa carried out quite a few intensive tests on the new Giulietta, here on our own shores, as part of the cars pre mass-production field tests.
As you can tell, these tests were carried out even prior to the 2010 world cup, so testing on the new Giulietta was done with the South African market very much in mind, or so it would seem! And as you all know, the road conditions here in SA aren't what a fancy European car is used to; we're more the rugged 30-35-deg, pothole laden, dirt-road accessing, taxi dodging kind of vehicle users, so any car that's going to be making it's way onto our shores, better be tested for our trying conditions.
So we're very happy to see that Alfa used SA as a testing platform for this stunning new car, because lets be honest, we do have some serious summers in SA, and if it can stand up to those (and all the other "test" -- official or not), you know that you've got a car that is able to handle everything that our roads will be throwing at it.
So enjoy these clips...they aren't what you'd call fancy, but from them, you can get a very good idea of what the Giulietta's were put through during the field-testing phase.
