After 125 years of motorsport history, Mercedes-Benz opens a new chapter in the coming season: at the start of the season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Saudi Arabia at the end of November, two all-electric racing cars of the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team will be racing for the first time.
In the two cockpits of the new Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01, Former Formula One driver Stoffel Vandoorne and currently FIA Formula 2 championship leader Nyck de Vries will take their place in the debut season for the team.
In its debut season, the team draws on the know-how and the combined motorsport experience of the Mercedes family. The heart of the Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01 is the electric drive that was designed and developed at Mercedes-AMG's High Performance Powertrains (HPP) in the United Kingdom, the Daimler Group's global center of excellence for high-performance hybrid technology. In Brixworth, the hybrid power units will continue to be developed, with which Mercedes has succeeded in each of the past five years, the World Cup double in Formula 1.
