After three years, three million units sold and a facelift, Chery’s Tiggo 7 Pro finally makes it to Australia to make a play for a slice of the super-competitive midsize SUV segment.

Priced from $39,990 driveaway, the Tiggo 7 Pro comes in base Urban, mid-spec Elite and flagship Ultimate guises, the latter fitting all-wheel drive and priced from $45,990 driveaway.

Turbo-petrol power, an impressive array of features and solid if hardly groundbreaking execution make for an enticing SUV proposition, if one blighted by some heavy handed driver assistance systems.

But does it have what it takes to challenge the might of segment stalwarts such as Toyota’s RAV4?
