The King of Transportation at the turn of the 20th Century may have been the railroad, but it wasn't long before the car took over. Then over the next 90 years, the automobile became bigger, faster, sexier and--more importantly--cheaper so nearly any one who wanted to own one could. As we closed the books on 1900s it was hard to believe that the car ever played second fiddle to any mode of transport. That's why in December of '99 a prestigious international panel announced the winning vehicles from a three-year voting process that gave us "The Car of the Century." Five vehicles from around the world topped those results. And this week as we take a brief news break on Autoline Daily, we countdown those winning cars with features on each beginning with today's fourth runner-up or the 5th most important car of the century.
