EXCLUSIVE | World premiere of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate 2016
Mercedes has pulled the covers off its striking new E-Class estate, with raft of the latest tech included
Mercedes has revealed the all-new E-Class Estate, which is set to go on sale later this year. The German brand claims the new wagon is the “most intelligent estate” it has ever built.
At the front, the new car is nearly identical to the saloon on which it’s based, yet from the B-pillar, the roofline extends further back. The rear lights appear as if they’ve been lifted from the smaller C-Class Estate, wrapping around from the tailgate on to the wings. Long overhangs ensure the new E-Class is the most practical premium estate in its class.
• Best estate cars on the market
It features a total load volume of 1,820 litres. That beats the Audi A6 Avant (1,680 litres), yet it falls short of the giant and significantly cheaper Skoda Superb (1,950 litres). The Mercedes has a trump card, though, as later this year it’ll be available with a third row of seats in the boot.
