"Nissan’s GT-R Nismo is famous for being one of the fastest cars in production… without a price tag of more than a million bucks.

Recall, the car, with its available N-Attack Package, will lap Germany’s Nürburgring in a time of only 7:08.679, a time few other production cars can out beat.

Now Nissan is out claiming the GT-R Nismo has set a new world record.

An announcement on the record will be made soon, and right now it looks like the record was set at an airport somewhere in the Middle East. A teaser video has been released to help build excitement, although it shows that the GT-R Nismo presumably used in setting the world record is not completely stock.

The GT-R Nismo, like the standard GT-R, features a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6. In Nismo-spec, the engine has been tuned to deliver 600 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, and along with the extra power the car gets a host of aerodynamic mods to help reduce drag while boosting downforce.

The available N-Attack Package boosts things even further. It comes in two flavors, A and B, and makes the car even more track-focused. Specific areas of modification include the aerodynamics, suspension and front seats, with the most notable upgrade being a huge rear wing with two height and 12 angle adjustment options."
