Maserati History - Stirling Moss

In 1956, the only one to contest the fourth title to Ferrari's Fangio was Moss in the Maserati 250 F. The Brit won the second grand prix of the season in Monaco in an authoritarian manner, keeping the command for all 100 laps of the race, despite the attacks by Argentinian. Moss participated in the same year with Maresati 300 also in the sports world championships, renewing the duel with Ferrari drivers Fangio Castellotti ans Musso, former rivals in Formula One. The 1000 km of Nurburgring was started with the departure in Le Mans style, with the riders lined up in front of the car, reached after a brief run. From the beginning Maserati and Ferrari were the protagonists of a great duel. Fangio, author of the fastest time in the test with the Ferrari 860 Monza immediately took the command followed by Behr, a companion of Moss. On 11th lap behr broke the transverse leaf rear suspension and was forced to retire. But Behr got on the car of team-mates and Harry Shell and Piero Taruffi third overall, regaining second place, before stopping at the pits at the 23th lap. In these pictures we see Moss refuel, and then going back to the race. Taking advantage of two Fangio's stops to control the suspension, Moss was the author of an amazing chase. catching up five seconds per lap on the Argentinian, he was able to move into the lead 4 laps before the finish line and finished with an advantage of 26 seconds before Fagio and Castellotti. Nello stesso anno Moss partecipò con la maserati 300 s anche al mondiale sport, rinnovando così il duello con i piloti della ferrari fangio, castellotti e musso, già suoi rivali nel mondiale di formula uno. alla 1000 chilometri del nurburgring il via fu dato con la partenza del tipo le mans, con i piloti schierati davanti alle auto, raggiunte e messe in moto dopo una breve corsa.fin dal via maserati e ferrari furono protagoniste di un bel duello. fangio, autore del tempo più veloce in prova con la ferrari 860 monza prese subito il comando inseguito da behrà, compagno di moss. all'undicesimo giro però behrà ruppe la balestra trasversale della sospensione posteriore e fu costretto al ritiro. behrà salì però sulla vettura dei compagni di squadra piero Taruffi e harry Shell terzi assoluti, portandosi, con una buona rimonta, al secondo posto, prima di sostare ai box al 23 esimo giro per il rifornimento.In queste immagini si vede proprio lo stesso moss effettuare il rifornimento, per poi riprendere la corsa. Approfittando di due soste di fangio, di cui una non prevista, per controllare le sospensioni, moss fu autore di una rincorsa strepitosa. rimontando cinque secondi al giro sull'argentino, riuscì a passare al comando a quattro giri dal termine e concluse al traguardo con un vantaggio di 26 secondi su fangio e castellotti. fu una delle vittorie più esaltanti della maserati nelle gare sport e al successo sul podio parteciparono anche taruffi e shell.
