Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 is a plug-in hybrid crossover with AWD. The car is built in cooperation with PSA, so underneath it shares components with the Peugeot 3008, Citroen C5 and DS7.

In 2017 the French car giant PSA ,which owns Citroen, DS and Peugeot, acquired Opel (Vauxhall) from GM. This made PSA the second largest car conglomerate in Europe after the Volkswagen Group. Since about then new Opel models were launched on the PSA platforms.

Built on the PSA EMP2 the Opel/Vauxhall Grandland X debuted at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, and it is currently Opel’s largest SUV or rather a crossover. It replaced the Antara, which was also known as the Chevrolet Captiva.

The Opel Grandland X debuted with a PSA 1.2 litre 130hp petrol 3-banger, and a 1.6 120 hp diesel. Since then 1.6 diesel has been replaced with a 1.5 130 hp diesel, and there is also now a more powerful, 2-litre diesel. All the engines are known from PSA.

Regardless of the engine variant the Opel Grandland X, like the 3008 and C5 Aircross, was a FWD car. Until the plug-in hybrid version arrived.
