Plug-in hybrid range expands to five models: latest-generation BMW eDrive technology now also offered for the BMW 5 Series Touring. BMW 530e Touring (fuel consumption, combined: 2.0 – 1.8 l/100 km [141.2 – 156.9 mpg imp]; electric power consumption, combined: 16.1 – 15.4 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 46 – 42 g/km), BMW 530e xDrive Touring (fuel consumption, combined: 2.4 – 2.2 l/100 km [117.7 – 128.4 mpg imp]; electric power consumption, combined: 16.7 – 16.1 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 54 – 50 g/km) and BMW 545e xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption, combined: 2.3 – 2.2 l/100 km [122.8 – 128.4 mpg imp]; electric power consumption, combined: 16.3 – 15.8 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 53 – 49 g/km) with six-cylinder in-line combustion engine available from autumn 2020. New BMW eDrive Zone function – standard for all plug-in hybrid models – automatically switches the car to all-electric mode when entering ‘green zones’.
Introduction of new 48V mild hybrid technology for all four- and six-cylinder engines (country-specific availability); more rapid responses and enhanced efficiency thanks to 48V starter-generator; 8 kW/11 hp power spike to both lighten the combustion engine’s workload and boost its power.
