BMW AG has acquired from Knorr-Bremse AG a more than 13,000 m plot of land in Munich that is soon to be the new home of BMW Group Classic. The site is ideal as BMW Group Classic’s new headquarters not only on account of its proximity to the BMW Tower, BMW Welt, the BMW Museum and BMW Plant Munich, but also because it forges a link to the brand’s past: the ensemble of buildings on the acquired land includes part of BMW’s first factory. It means that not only are some of the former production halls returning to the Group, but also the heritage-protected gate buildings of the time. The latter will be reinstated as the gateway to the Group’s past and a symbol of the new centre for fans of historic automobiles and motorcycles from the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars brands.
