Classic car arrival alert ... with little Dodge gone after 10 years of residence it was time to find something to replace it with. Our green MGB is - hopefully - destined to be our longer-distance classic car (it's almost on the road and two seats is usually sufficient) so there was no need to buy a sensible cruiser, so we didn't. Far from it. In fact the old car we bought couldn't be further removed from a swift long-distance mile-muncher really. But it did tick the box of being ready to go, as opposed to being a restoration project, which as I've said before I'm trying to cut back on and instead focus on runners(!), A40 and Minor excepted. And everyone at OCC HQ really likes it, which is a bonus (and not always the case!).
In this vid I talk about the new arrival, then next day we head off for a short test drive, combining that run with a visit to the first of what will, hopefully, be a regular classic car gathering not far from here, near Middlewich in Cheshire. A number of classic cars turned up, including dad in his recently-acquired MGB GT.
Will it start ok? Will it drive ok? How did the first proper drive go? Did it complete the journey to this small meet-up? Am I suffering buyer's remorse? Will the Standard get the hump? These and many other things will be addressed in this upload.
If you have experience of these cars, please say hello in the comments. I'm sure there must be a few of these out there, although I've very rarely seen any at shows. The salty/gritted roads are upon us now so there won't be (m)any more drives out for a while, but at least we got this drive in before the weather and roads turn mucky.
If messing around with old cars is something you approve of, please take a look around the rest of the Old Classic Car channel and think about subscribing. Comments welcomed as always! Thanks for looking in.
